Dear Livingston Library Community,
From melt in your mouth not in your hand chocolate treats and Kit Kat breaks to tasting the rainbow, candy is a year round treat that we all enjoy. But where did it come from? This Monday, February 4, at 7:00 PM, questions about your favorite indulgences will be answered in a program presented by the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts.
ABCs of Candy will explore the history of a variety of different candies, including some tried and true favorites as well as some popular newcomers. The program is conducted alphabetically, discussing a different candy for each letter of the alphabet and addresses broader themes, including when and why American consumption of candy increased.
Don’t worry, we won’t be sending you home with a head full of sweets and an empty stomach! The evening concludes with sugary and sugar-free samples to enjoy.
I think Betty MacDonald put it best in her book Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle’s Magic, “There’s nothing as cozy as a piece of candy and a book.”
All the best,
