Message From the Director: World Languages

Do you know that the Livingston Public Library has books in over 10 languages?

In fact, our library is proud to have one of the largest and highly circulated Chinese language collections in the state!  We also have a great selection of Hindi, Guajarati, Marathi, Korean, Russian, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Hebrew materials.

Our Chinese collection has over 5,000 books, 1,000 DVDs and CDs, and 29 magazines.  A list of new added Chinese materials can be found both online and in print at the beginning of the Chinese collection shelf.

Our Indian collection includes Hindi and Gujarati fiction and nonfiction.  DVDs of Marathi and Gujarati language feature films, and the ever popular Bollywood feature films are an important component.  Hindi, Gujarati and English language magazines published in India  round out the collection.

These world language resources now have a new home.  You can find them right around the corner from the library entrance.  The collection has more space and is better organized than before with new and popular books more prominently displayed.

  1. Thank you for great newsletters and information. The groups / classes you offer to 5-8th graders look great.. but they start at 3pm or 3:30… mount pleasant middle school does not get out of school until 3:25pm.. and I believe heritage is 3:15… so these groups can practically only work for 5th graders. Can we rethink the timing in the future to accommodate the groups you are offering to??
    Thank you so much!!

    1. Hi Eileen. Schools are closed November 7 and November 8 for the teachers convention. If you have any further questions, please let us know.
