Meet the Author Events!

Meet the Author Laura Sims:

Local New Jersey author, Laura Sims will be visiting the Livingston Public Library on Saturday, November 23 at 3pm.  Laura is the author of four books of poetry, as well as onesims.jpg psychological thriller titled Looker, which was published this year.  

Looker is a story about obsession. A woman becomes fixated and entranced by her neighbor- an actress. This fixation soon grows into an all encompassing obsession that has her collecting discarded items from her neighbor’s front steps looker.jpgand fantasizing about intimate interactions with the neighbor’s husband.  After an interaction gone wrong with her neighbor at a block party, what began as an innocent entrancement quickly becomes an dark unraveling.

Laura will be at the library to discuss Looker as well as her experience writing the novel itself, offering advice to aspiring novelists and poets. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and all are welcome to attend.  For more information, check out our events calendar, here. 

Meet Picture Book Author Mike Malbrough:

This month we also have a Meet the Author event planned for children ages 4-8! Picture marigold.jpgbook author Mike Malbrough will be visiting the Livingston Public Library on Saturday, November 30 at 10:30am.  Mike will be reading his book, Marigold Finds the Magic Words, and then will be doing a craft with the children. Meet the Author Julie Maloney

julie maloneyHello Library Readers!

We are super excited to announce that author Julie Maloney will be visiting us on Thursday, May 2 at 7:00pm.  Maloney was born and raised in Newark, New Jersey, and has a BA in English from New Jersey City University and Master of Fine Arts from University of North Carolina. Maloney is the founder of Women Reading Aloud, a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting women writers.

Maloney has published both a book of poems as well as a A Matter of Chancenovel.  Her book of poems Private Landscape, published by Arseya Press, explores a woman’s journey through cancer.  In her novel A Matter of Chance, eight year old Vinni Stewart goes missing from a Jersey Shore town, leaving her distraught single mother desperately searching for her daughter.  This novel explores motherhood, grief, and loss.

In addition to her writing, Maloney was also the artistic director, choreographer, and principal dancer at the Julie Maloney Dance Company for thirteen years.  For more information, check out her website here.
