Celebrating Juneteenth in Youth Services

Be sure to stop by the library this week to pick up a Take & Make Juneteenth Craft at the Children’s Desk while supplies last! The craft will also be available at the Juneteenth Celebration with author Alliah L. Agostini on Wednesday, June 15 at 6:30pm. All are welcome to join us as the author reads from her new picture book, The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States, and help us celebrate afterward with red velvet cake and strawberry lemonade on our Youth Terrace.

While you’re here, you can also pick up a book from our Juneteenth Book Display, including these titles:

Juneteenth, by Kevin P. Winn and Kelisa Wing

What is Juneteenth?, by Kirsti Jewel

The Juneteenth Story: Celebrating the End of Slavery in the United States, by Alliah L. Agostini

Juneteenth for Mazie, by Floyd Cooper

Opal Lee and What It Means to Be Free: The True Story of the Grandmother of Juneteenth, by Alice Faye Duncan

The Story of Juneteenth: An Interactive History Adventure, by Steven Otfinoski

Happy reading!

-Amanda Winter, Youth Services Librarian
