There are many different reasons as to why we read. Sometimes we may read for the valuable information within the pages of a book, while other times we may read to escape into a world far away from our own, or because the book is of a certain literary quality. But then, there are other times that we read for comfort. These are the books that make us feel warm inside, never fail to disappoint, and are the perfect reads to cuddle up with as the cooler days start approaching. So today we’d like to ask you, what’s your go to comfort read?
As always, here’s a small sampling of what your fellow Livingston Public Library librarians have to say:
- Jessica, Adult Services: My go to read for when I want to feel happy and like the world is a wonderful place is anything by Debbie Macomber. My go to read for when I’m looking for a page turner that I know will leave me with a book hangover is anything by Colleen Hoover.
- Joseph, Adult Services: If he’s looking for something light, or something to read for a little while, Joseph will choose a comic book.
- Katie, Adult Services: After a lot of thought, Katie’s go to comfort read is Auntie Mame by Patrick Dennis.
- Gina, Youth Services: “I had to think about this one for a little, but it turns out my comfort reads are cookbooks! I read about how to cook and bake comfort food. I also like to have lots of books around me for comfort, like a literary safety blanket.”
