Holiday Movies to Stream on Kanopy

March of the Wooden Soldiers (1934)

Based on the operetta by Victor Herbert, this delightful musical follows the pre-Christmas antics of two well-meaning bumblers of Toyland, Ollie Dee (Oliver Hardy) and Stannie Dum (Stan Laurel), as they try to help Mother Peep and her daughter Bo from being evicted by their sinister landlord…who also wants to close the town’s toy factory and ruin the holidays for all the children expecting toys!

The Flight Before Christmas (2008)

A flying squirrel shows a youthful reindeer who suffers from vertigo how to soar into the sky. The reindeer heads to the North pole to save Santa and his reindeer. Starring Emma Roberts and Norm MacDonald.

Christmas In Carolina (2020)

Elle, a career driven investment banker, has given up on love until she meets Wesley who invites Elle to his hometown in South Carolina. There she falls in love and finds the spirit of Christmas again. Starring Kelli Shanygne Williams and Darius McCrary.

The 12 Days of Christmas Eve (2004)

Calvin Carter is a hard-charging, high-living guy who runs a hugely successful chain of discount stores. When he awakens in the hospital he is met by a no-nonsense nurse who gives him 12 days to relive Christmas Eve and find the true meaning of the holiday. Starring Steven Weber and Molly Shannon, and directed by Martha Coolidge (Valley Girl, Real Genius, Rambling Rose).

Mahalia Jackson Sings Songs of Christmas (1997)

Featuring over 40 minutes of vintage performances by the world’s greatest gospel singer, this is Mahalia at her most powerful, singing the beloved songs of the holiday season. Originally intended as musical vignettes for CBS’s 1960-61 television season, this beautiful footage has been digitally remastered for optimum sound and picture quality form the original 16mm Kinescopes.
