January was a full month of some wonderful and informative virtual adult programs! Here’s a recap of what happened this month.
We got crafty with Creative Arts programs this month! We kicked off the third year of the Livingston Public Library’s popular Reflective Journaling program with a Cover Crafting workshop early in the month. Every Monday you can find new journaling weekly sheets either in person at the Library or on the Library’s Blog, here. Adults also enjoyed Mason Jar Painting with a Zoom workshop instructed by Express Yourself Studios. Everyone made gorgeous creations.
We learned ways to embrace nature during the chilly winter months with a virtual workshop on The Art, History, and Benefits of Indoor Gardening presented by Master Gardener Mary Jo Sichak. There are so many benefits to having houseplants inside your home!
We also brought in the New Year in style with Party Hearty in the Middle Ages. The Middle Ages might have been dark times, but the people living during this time period still experienced joy and good times. Michael Norris, Ph.D., discussed medieval foods and their preparation (including a recipe for roast unicorn), as well as the rules and ceremonies these foods were enjoyed. We took this party theme with us to the end of the month with a lecture presented by Evan Weiner on The Super Bowl: More Than Just a Game.
For those on the job search, we learned some valuable tips during Virtual Job Interviews: Best Practices and Tips for Success presented by Presented by Debra J. Stark, Career Advisor at Ramapo College of NJ.
We also learned some healthy immunity boosting and cooking tips in two lectures Boost Your Immunity with the Magic of Spices, presented by Jyoti Nebhnani, and Demystifying the InstaPot, presented by Jennifer Shukaitis.
Our Cancer Education Series in partnership with Center for Asian Health (CAH )at the St. Barnabas Medical Center and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of NJ (CINJ) also began this month with a lecture on Cancer and Genetics.
We also had fun this month playing Kahoot Trivia on Zoom during our Family Trivia Night and enjoyed an on demand Tabla Sitar Concert via the Library’s YouTube Channel.
And of course, for all the book lovers out there we also enjoyed are three book clubs this month: Let’s Talk About Books, Bookish Vibes (including a visit with author Diane Chamberlain), and Unstuck in Time.
Be sure to visit the Library’s event calendar and mark your calendars for all of the wonderful programs that we have planned next month. We can’t wait to see you at our virtual programs!
