July was a HOT and humid month. What better way is there to beat the heat than stopping by your local library?
Our Adult Summer Reading Program started in June but continued into July. Keep reading and submitting your raffle tickets for our grand prize drawing in August!
July also brought lots of crafting opportunities. Our Color Your Stress Away adult coloring group opened evening sessions for people looking to escape the heat. These sessions will also be held on select evenings in August.
Our Livi Cares: Adult Volunteer Club also began this month. Attendees colored images to be donated to Color a Smile. “Color A Smile is a nonprofit organization that distributes cheerful drawings to senior citizens, our troops overseas, and anyone in need of a smile.”For more information about Color a Smile, check out their website. Drop in the library on select dates in August where will be making cards to be donated to Cards for Hospitalized Kids.
The very popular Weekends with the Oscars were back! This month we showed: Black Panther, The Green Book, A Star is Born, and Bohemian Rhapsody. Check out our calendar to see what will be playing in August.
We also continued to get techie with a course in Google Drive Basics. This course taught attendees how to store documents in the Google Drive Cloud and get started using it confidently.
We also learned how to protect ourselves with Self Defense which took place outside on the library lawn. This course used techniques stemming from aiki-jujutsu.
Our book clubs (Cookbook Club, Get Lit, and Let’s Talk About Books) continued throughout July, as well as our Creative Writing group. Check out our calendar to see what wonderful programs are happening in August!
