* Attention fellow readers and book lovers!*
Are you an avid reader looking to discuss novels by popular and trending authors with other readers? If so, our Bookish Vibes book club is for you! Bookish Vibes meets monthly at 7pm via Zoom and is all about “vibing” with a great read. Our next meeting will be held on Thursday, June 10 at 7pm, where we will be discussing books by best selling author Elyssa Friedland. The best part? Elyssa Friedland will also be zooming into our discussion!
If you have read books by Friedland before, join us and discuss what you have read. If you haven’t read books by Friedland, a copy of her latest novel Last Hour at the Golden Hotel (to be published May 18th) will be available for you to borrow from the Patron Services Desk. You can register for our upcoming Bookish Vibes meeting, here. The day before the event an email with information on how to access the Zoom meeting will be sent to you.
Interested in exploring Friedland’s other books? You can find the below titles in the Library’s print and digital collections!
From the Publisher: “Sink or swim. Or at least that’s what Annette Feldman tells herself when she books a cruise for her entire family. It’s been over a decade since the Feldman clan has spent more than twenty-four hours under the same roof, but Annette is determined to celebrate her seventieth birthday the right way. Just this once, they are going to behave like an actual family.
Too bad her kids didn’t get the memo. Between the troublesome family secrets, old sibling rivalries, and her two teenage grandkids, Annette’s birthday vacation is looking more and more like the perfect storm. Adrift together on the open seas, the Feldmans will each face the truths they’ve been ignoring—and learn that the people they once thought most likely to sink them are actually the ones who help them stay afloat.”
From the Publisher: “After five years of marriage, Cass Coyne has lost some of her boundless confidence. Her husband sees their ups and downs as normal challenges in a healthy relationship, but Cass lies awake at night wondering what you do when you need a break from your marriage?
It comes as a shock to Jonathan when Cass persuades him to try a marital “intermission”: a six-month separation during which they’ll decide if the comfortable life they’ve built together is still the one they both want.
Six months apart from their beloved dog is a different story, so they agree to meet once a month for a custody exchange. Time apart on opposite coasts makes the Coynes realize their problems may lie deeper than sweaty gym socks left on the bed and an empty container of milk put back in the fridge.
Can a marriage experiment go too far for two people who once thought they had it all figured out?”
From the Publisher: “Evie Rosen has had enough. She’s tired of the partners at her law firm e-mailing her at all hours of the night. The thought of another online date makes her break out in a cold sweat. She’s over the clever hashtags and the endless selfies. So when her career hits a surprising roadblock and her heart is crushed by Facebook, Evie decides that it’s time to put down her smartphone for good. (Beats stowing it in her underwear-she’s done that, too!) And that’s when she discovers a fresh start for real conversations, fewer distractions, and living in the moment, even if the moments are heartbreakingly difficult. Babies are born; marriages teeter; friendships are tested. Evie may find love and a new direction when she least expects it, but she also learns that just because you unplug your phone doesn’t mean you can also unplug from life.”
We hope to see you at our June meeting!
