Louis Bamberger: Department Store Innovator & Philanthropist

Were you looking forward to the Library’s Louis Bamberger program that was bambergerscheduled back in November on the very day that the terrible New Jersey snowstorm struck?  If you were, join the library on this Thursday, March 14 at 7pm for “Louis Bamberger: Department Store Innovator and Philanthropist” presented by Linda Forgosh, author and Executive Director of the Jewish Historical Society of NJ.

Louis Bamberger was a resident of Newark, NJ where he was a high school dropout and self-made millionaire. He established Newark’s leading department store, L. Bamberger & Co., which he later sold to R.H. Macy and Company.  Due his philanthropy, Newark Beth Israel Hospital, the Newark Museum, and the YMHA on High Street were founded.

Registration to this program is not required and it is free and open to all.

Hope to see you there!
