The Livingston Public Library prides itself in programming for all ages. That’s why we are excited to announce our new Empowered Parents programming series. From financial planning to social and emotional development, these upcoming programs are geared to help guide parents and their children at every stage of life.
The first program in this series will be Peaceful Parenting: A Reflection on Naomi Aldort’s Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves presented Dr. Carla Andrews, a local child and adolescent psychologist. First published in 2006, Raising Our Children, Raising Ourselves still fits squarely into our modern notions of mindful, positive parenting. Her premise is that allowing ourselves to empower our children forms the closest human connections. This still holds true, but I think that we call all agree that parenting in today’s world requires more courage than ever.
