Message From the Director: Explore the Legacy of Nat “King” Cole

“I’m an interpreter of stories. When I perform it’s like sitting down at my piano and telling fairy stories.” — Nat King Cole

Livingston Library Community,

We love being able to share and reflect upon songs that have shaped our musical culture across the decades. That’s why we are so excited to invite you to join the Livingston Library’s virtual Senior Happening Friday, August 20th at 1pm for an exclusive pre-recorded YouTube video celebrating the unforgettable music of Nat “King” Cole, as performed by Rhonda Denet.

This performance will explore the classics that made Nat Cole a household name in the 1950s, followed by the 1970s soul hits that allowed Natalie Cole to stake a claim all her own. As the performance comes to a close, we will return to the virtual duos that won the hearts of fans across the world in the 1990s. Songs featured in this performance include: Nature Boy, L-O-V-E, When I Fall In Love, This Will Be, I’ve Got Love On My Mind, and Unforgettable

Registration is required for virtual Senior Happening and can be done so through the Library’s event calendar, here.  Registered attendees will receive an email with a link to the prerecorded YouTube video on Friday, August 20th at 1pm.

If you miss in person Senior Happening, we have good news! In person Senior Happening will resume in September with a performance of Musical Matriarchs by the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra on Friday, September 17 at 1pm. Registration for the September Senior Happening will open on Monday, August 30th at 10am.

We hope you enjoy this virtual Senior Happening performance!

Best,

Amy Babcock, Director

  1. Looking forward to the presentation. I enjoy all the virtual Senior Happenings and being able to view them afterward if I don’t make it to the time slot. Thank you so much and to the Livingston Public Library for doing this.
