Message From the Director: Happy Holidays!

Happy Holidays from the Livingston Public Library! As we approach the winter holidays, we have programming planned for all ages to get you into the festive spirit.

This month Guitar Joe will be hosting special holiday editions of musical story time.  On Monday, December 16 at 4:00 PM, we invite you to join us for Musical Storytime: Hanukkah Edition, and on Monday, December 23 at 4:00 PM for Musical Storytime: Christmas Edition.  Whether you choose to celebrate these holidays or not, you are welcome to enjoy songs, listen to stories, and learn about the traditions related to the Jewish Festival of Lights and the Yuletide season.

Teens will be getting into the festive spirit by crafting beautiful Star Lanterns.   There will be two drop in sessions on Tuesday, December 10 for this craft.  The drop-in for teens grades 9-12 will be at 3:30pm, and the drop-in for grades 6-8 will be at 4:30pm.  The program will run while supplies last.

For those interested in lectures, Dr. Michael Norris, former museum educator at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, will be joining us on Monday, December 16 at 7:00 PM to present From Saint to Santa.  Dr. Norris will explore how the life of a minor Christian Bishop in the Roman Empire became one of Christianity’s most beloved saints.

We are also prepared to get creative!  On Wednesday, December 18 at 11:00 AM, Adults will be able to Make a Birch Bark Snowflake Plaque as instructed by the Culture Cabin.  (Registration was required-this program is full.)  Also on December 18 at 4:00 PM, children are invited to drop-in to Decorate a Holiday Cookie.  This yummy program will run while supplies last.

No matter what holiday you celebrate, we invite you to join us in our festive programming this month.
