Message From the Director: Happy Mother’s Day!

Livingston Library Community,

On this day, we say thank you to the mothers- the carers, the nurturers, and the women who have touched our lives and helped to shape us into the people that we have become. In honor of all the moms out there, our librarians have compiled two book lists:  Books for Mom, which contains fun and light fiction and non-fiction titles for all the mother’s out there and Books and More for New Moms, which contains books and music for those brand new to motherhood.

This Mother’s Day is especially special because May 2020 marks the centennial anniversary of the ratification of the 19th amendment of the Constitution of the United States of America, giving women the right to vote. It’s hard to believe that it has only been 100 years since women have been given this right.  To learn more, check out our blog post  Women’s Right to Vote Turns 100, for a list of titles you can borrow from our virtual library as well as other digital resources.

My own mother nurtured my love of books and libraries and is a big part of the reason I am a librarian today. Her encouragement and support has meant the world to me. Be sure to give the women who have helped to shape your life a (socially distanced and virtual) hug.

Stay in touch, Stay safe.

  1. Hi Amy,
Does the library have any system for readers to request and then have Large Print books delivered or picked-up during this time? West Orange provides this service which is great for Seniors. Not interested in digital books. Any info? Thanks!
