Message From the Director: How to Satisfy Your Post Binge Watching Blues

Livingston Library Community,

Have you been binge watching television? I know I have! And I’ve been enjoying chatting with other members of the Library team about our favorite shoes. Tiger King, Ozarks, and The Plot Against America– these buzzy television shows from Netflix and HBO happen to be what just about everyone is talking about while we stay at home. If you finished your binge and want more, the Virtual Livingston Public Library is here to satisfy your craving.

Before The Plot Against America was a hit HBO tv show, it was a novel by Philip Roth.  Published in 2004, the novel delves into the anti-semtisim and racism of the 1930s and 1940s through the lense of a reimagined alternate version of history.  If you’re interested in learning more about Roth’s creation of the novel or these topics, this blog post has resources for both Adults and Teens that you will find fascinating.

Whether you’re team Carol Baskin or Team Exotic Joe, Tiger King is a true crime saga unlike any other. If you were captivated by the eccentric characters in this documentary, this list of bizarre true crime books has other real life tales that will encapsulate you as well.

The Ozarks are back with a third season of their popular tv series.  The  mountains and forests located in the Ozarks (which includes the states of Missouri, Arkansas, and Okhlahoma) make for the perfect setting for mystery novels.  If you can’t get enough of this show, this list of mystery books set in the Ozarks may just be perfect for you!

Be sure to follow our blog, Beyond the Books for more book lists and digital resources! We can’t wait to hear all about what you have been reading and watching during your time at home.

Stay in touch, stay safe.
