Message From The Director: New Adult Volunteer Club

“The unselfish effort to bring cheer to others will be the beginning of a happier life for ourselves.” – Helen Keller

A commitment to volunteerism is one of my favorite things about our Livingston Community.  That’s why I am proud to announce our newest program the Adult Volunteer Club.  During this series of drop in programs, we will be putting our crafting skills to good use and making artwork that will be donated to two organizations: Color a Smile and Cards for Hospitalized Kids.

Coloring for Color a Smile will take place on July 16th and 30th at 3:00pm.  Participants will be able to color beautiful pieces of artwork that will be donated to senior citizens, our troops overseas, and anyone else the organization finds is in need of a smile. Card crafting for Cards for Hospitalized Kids will take place on August 13th and 27th at 3:00pm Participants will create bright and cheerful greeting cards that will brighten the hospital rooms of sick children.

Want to participate but unable to make these time slots?  New additions to the expanding Library of Things offer take home volunteer opportunities!  You can now check out an Origami Kit, which contains paper and instructions to make origami cranes that will be donated to Cranes for a Cure.  And you may now check out a Knitting Kit, which includes the necessary supplies and instructions to knit baby hats for St. Barnabas’ NICU! And don’t worry, all the kits come with step by step instructions that are so easy to follow, even I can do it!

Registration is not required for any of the Volunteer Club programs. So stop by the library, learn a new skill, and share some joy with the world.
