“Now more than ever we need to talk to each other, to listen to each other and understand how we see the world, and cinema is the best medium for doing this.” — Martin Scorsese
Livingston Library Community,
Director Martin Scorsese and actor Robert De Niro are two iconic pillars of the film industry who have shaped commercial filmmaking with their gritty, and sometimes even dark, humor. From urban portrayals of violence in films such as Mean Streets and Taxi Driver, professional sports as seen in Raging Bull, and organized crime as seen in The Godfather, Casino, and The Irishman, these collaborations stand out in recognition for their dark humor and craftsmanship of cinematic quality.
If you’re interested in learning more about the films of this iconic hollywood duo, we invite you to join the Livingston Public Library virtually on Zoom Monday, October 18th at 7pm where film historian, Max Alvarez will be presenting a lecture on “Scorsese and De Niro: An Intense Collaboration.” We also invite you to stop by the Livingston Public Library to borrow some of Scorese and De Niro’s films in preparation for this virtual event!
All are welcome to attend this lecture which is sure to be just as entertaining as it is engaging. Registration is required and can be done so through the Library’s event calendar, here. An email with information on how to access the Zoom event will be sent to you the day before the closing is to take place.
