Message from the Director: New Year’s Reflections

Livingston Community,

For me the New Year is a time to reflect on the accomplishments of the past year and set goals for the year ahead. In the coming weeks you will hear more about the number of programs we have conducted and the amount of materials that have circulated, but today I want to take a moment to reflect on the most valuable asset of the Livingston Public Library- our Library team.

As you know, it has been a year of ups and downs, seemingly endless changes, and steps forward have been followed by steps backwards. However, the team at the library has been a model of resilience and unity. The opportunity to come to work everyday and serve our community alongside my colleagues is what gives me hope for the coming year. The library team has shown me that if we work together with kindness and empathy at the forefront there is

nothing we can not overcome. It was a year of challenges and they rose to meet each one.

It is because of them that I enter this new year with a sense of purpose and inspiration.

So this is my hope for the New Year, for the Library and for the entire Livingston community, that we will continue to work together, to find common ground, to connect and to overcome. When we lead with kindness, when we lead with respect, when we lead with understanding, there is no obstacle that we can not rise above.

The Livingston Public Library, the place where reading, learning, and ideas converge to transform lives.

– Livingston Public Library, Mission Statement

Best,

Amy Babcock, Director

  1. Thanks for the nice note. It seems like we take one step forward and belong long we are two steps back. Hopefully we will get to see some light at the end of the tunnel before too long..
