October was another month full of wonderful virtual and take home programming. Here’s a recap of what we enjoyed during this month.
Alicia O’Connor of the Cognitive and Research Center of New Jersey discussed what healthy brain aging is and showed us the importance of having a healthy brain in the lecture Healthy Brain Aging Tips and Strategies.
We also enjoyed lectures on American history and culture. Early in the month, professor James Kane joined us on Zoom for a program on American Icons. In this program, Kane offered commentary on icons who helped to shape and influence American culture. It was a wonderful and engaging lecture! Louis Picone also joined us for a lecture, this time presenting The Most Extraordinary Presidential Elections in U.S. History. From George Washington in 1788 to Donald Trump in 2016, this lecture covered it all! We ended the month by exploring The Films of Alfred Hitchcock, with a lecture presented by Brian Rose.
October is a spooky month, and we embraced the season through a lecture on Mysteries of the Paranormal presented by L’Aura Hladik Hoffman, founder and director of the NJ Ghost Hunters Society. From ouija boards to crop circles, this lecture covered all the things that give us the creepies.
We got creative this month with two fun creative arts programs! We made Chakra Bracelets in a workshop presented by art instructor Julie Murphy. We also learned about the 7 different chakras and what they represent. We also got crafty with the Livingston Librarians during our Pinterest Inspired Take Home Craft: Festive Fall Beading!
We also enjoyed our monthly Senior Happening, Let’s Talk About Books book club, and Unstuck in Time book club. Be sure to visit our events calendar to see what great events we have planned for November!
