May 27 marked the passing of another prominent figure in the literary world. Robert Bernstein, a publishing executive and human rights activist at Random House Publishing passed away at the age of 96 after working in the publishing industry for over two decades. According to Harrison Smith, reporter for the Washington Post, it was under Bernstein’s direction that Random House expanded into the world’s largest publisher of general interest books.
