Scratch Art Design Workshop

Do you remember the childhood days of making scratch art?  Where one would take a black wax-coated piece of paper and scratch multicolored designs into it that really scratch artpopped? Doesn’t that make you a bit nostalgic?

The Livingston Library will be hosting an adult version of Scratch Art Design with artist and instructor Mansa Mussa on Wednesday, March 13 at 11am. In this workshop, participants will combine four 3.5 x 3.5 inch scratch art pads into a cohesive design.  As Mansa explains, the process begins by drawing free style forms with a wooden stylus and plastic forks on two of the pads.  On two other pads geometric templates will be used to fashion a completely different design. During this workshop, “you will scratch the black wax off and reveal a wonderland of rainbow patterns” adds Mansa. The images are then taped together and enhanced with silver, white, and gold liquid gel pens and stickers.

We hope to see you there!
