“Snow” Much Fun at Yakety Yak!

Readers who attended this month’s Yakety Yak Book Club Grade 2-3 had a great time talking about the dragons from Dragon Masters: Chill of the Ice Dragon.  When asked if they would like to have a dragon, some of the children thought it would be great because the dragon could help cook dinner and roast marshmallows for dessert!  Other children worried that the dragons would scratch up the floors and roads when they walked around with their claws.

For the activity, the children played with Insta-Snow!  With help from teen volunteers Samay and Annie, they experimented with adding different amounts of water to the Insta-Snow powder to see how it changed the consistency of the “snow”.  Too much water and it became slushy; too little water and it stayed powdery.  By finding just the right amount, some of the children were able to make a small snowball!
