Ebooks are amazing and the Livingston Public Library offers readers a wonderful digital collection. But let’s face it, there is no better feeling than having a print novel in your hands. Today I’d like to share with you some of my favorite summer reads that you can place holds on for pick up.
Life’s a Beach by Clare Cook
Ginger is 41 years old, single, and she’s living at home in a room over her family’s garage. Her sister is turning 50, and let’s just say that she has gone off the deep end a little bit. Toss in Ginger’s father who likes to pick garbage from dumpsters and a movie crew that happens to come to town and you get a perfect light and funny beach read.
Summer Days by Lisa Jackson, Elizabeth Bass, and Holly Chamberlain
This book is a collection of four short stories that take place in different beach towns. All of these stories offer insights to romantic relationships set in our favorite warm season. This is the perfect read to pick up and put down without committing time to one very long story.
Secrets in Summer by Nancy Thayer
This book is so perfect. It’s so very perfect in fact that has me fantasizing about being a librarian down the shore. Darcy is thirty years old and she’s divorced. She works at the Nantucket library during the day and spends her nights in her backyard. One day her neighbor (a vacationer) arrives next door and so begins the development of a crush and a fascination on her neighbor’s lives (in a not so creepy way).
Summer Rental by Mary Kay Andrews
This was one of the first Mary Kay Andrews books that I ever read and let me tell you, I fell in love with it right away. It’s about a group of friends who are in their mid-thirties and are kind of all at different places in their lives. They meet in a beach house in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, for a summer of change, of friendship, and of adventure!
Sandcastles by Luanne Rice
In this novel by Luanne Rice, an estranged couple from summers long ago will reunite in for their daughter’s wedding. If you’re a fan of Luanne Rice, the library also has her latest novel, The Last Day, available for you to request!
Happy Reading!
