Message From the Director: Storytime Reimagined

Amy Director

“You can find magic wherever you look.  Sit back and relax all you need is a book!” – Dr. Seuss

Livingston Library Community,

Storytimes are often one of the first library experiences children discover that fosters a lifetime love for reading. Our children’s librarians miss having in person storytimes with our littlest learners. However, now you can bring the library storytime experience home to your little ones! The Livingston Public Library is excited to announce our Create Your Own Storytime program. Visit the library during our Browse & Borrow hours and stop by the “Create Your Own Storytime Display.”  Here you will find themed books, an activity sheet, and a scannable code for direct access to Amanda’s On Demand Little Listeners Storytime.

Little Listener’s storytime is designed for preschool age children, but is something that the whole family can enjoy together! Create Your Own Storytime themes are constantly changing, so be sure to visit the display the next time you’re at the library!

We hope to be reading together again soon!

Message From the Director: Let’s Celebrate Love

Amy Director

Love is in the air at the Livingston Public Library and this month we have programs for both children and adults to help celebrate love and the nurturing of relationships.

During the week of February 8th – February 13th children can stop by the Library to take home supplies to make Hanging Heart Valentines Craft.  This craft is available while supplies last, so make sure you grab yours early!

Adults who are looking to strengthen the health of their relationships can join the library virtually on Tuesday, February 17th at 7pm for a virtual lecture on Maintaining Healthy Relationships: Advice for Couples.  In this lecture, licensed psychologist Dr. Leslie Becker-Phelps will clarify the necessary elements for a strong, healthy relationship, including nurturing compassionate self-awareness.

If you’re looking for some romantic comedies to watch this month, the Livingston Public Library’s subscriptions to Hoopla Digital and Kanopy have you covered.  Here you can find a variety of romantic films.  For those who prefer a good romance novel, you can also browse the Library’s digital collection on Overdrive or stop by the Library during our Browse & Borrow hours and have one of our librarians recommend your next February read!
