Tuesday Night Movie – “Top Gun: Maverick”

Top Gun: Maverick was more than just the most money-making movie on Earth this year, far outgrossing the Jurassic World dinosaurs, all the Marvel and DC superheroes, and even the Minions. It was also one of the most celebrated films of 2022. In fact, more than any other movie of the past few years, Top Gun: Maverick seemed to remind audiences how exciting it can be to watch movies on the big screen.

Clarrise Loughery of The Independent called the film “as thrilling as blockbusters get… the kind of edge-of-your-seat, fist-pumping spectacular that can unite an entire room full of strangers sitting in the dark and leave them with a wistful tear in their eye.” Two-time Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino said that the movie “provided a true cinematic spectacle, the kind that I’d almost thought that I wasn’t going to see anymore. It was fantastic.” Even A.O. Scott of the New York Times had to admit that “the action sequences are tense and exuberant, reminders that flight has been one of the great thrills of cinema almost from the beginning.”

If you’d like to experience the thrills of Top Gun: Maverick for yourself, we’ll be showing it on the big screen in our program room starting at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 22nd. This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required. The film will be screened in English, with English subtitles for the hard of hearing. Top Gun: Maverick is rated PG-13, and runs 2 hours, 10 minutes.
