Tapping Into Your Intuition: A Program and Books

What do Richard Branson, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, and Thomas Edison have in common? They all credit using their “intuition” as a key factor in their success. In fact, some of the most successful people will tell you that they rely on their intuition to make some of their biggest decisions, and their daily practices include tapping into their intuition to stay ahead of the competition.

On the evening of January 9th at 7pm, Chitra Rochlani, medium and spiritual counselor, will talk about how easy it can be to access this hidden superpower. You will leave this presentation with a clear understanding of:

  • What is intuition and why do we need it
  • 3 key benefits of tapping into your intuition
  • 3 practical ways to use infinite intelligence to make win-win decisions.

Registration is recommended for this program since space is limited.

The following books available to borrow in the Library’s collection can help you take a fresh look at the intuitive process and show you how to harness its power to effect change in your everyday life and world.

Blink : The Power Of Thinking Without Thinking by Malcolm Gladwell

How do we think without thinking, seem to make choices in an instant–in the blink of an eye–that actually aren’t as simple as they seem? Why are some people brilliant decision makers, while others are consistently inept? Why do some people follow their instincts and win, while others end up stumbling into error? And why are the best decisions often those that are impossible to explain to others? Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscience and psychology, Gladwell reveals that great decision makers aren’t those who process the most information or spend the most time deliberating, but those who have perfected the art of filtering the very few factors that matter from an overwhelming number of variables.

The Eureka Factor : Aha Moments, Creative Insight, And The Brain by John Kounios

Eureka or aha moments are sudden realizations that expand our understanding of the world and ourselves, conferring both personal growth and practical advantage.   Kounios explains how insights arise and what the scientific research says about stimulating more of them. He also discusses how various conditions affect the likelihood of your having an insight, when insight is helpful and when deliberate methodical thought is better suited to a task, what the relationship is between insight and intuition, and how the brain’s right hemisphere contributes to creative thought.

Gut Feelings :The Intelligence Of The Unconscious by Gerd Gigerenzer

Drawing on a decade of research at the Max Plank Institute, Gigerenzer demonstrates that our gut feelings are actually the result of unconscious mental processes—processes that apply rules of thumb that we’ve derived from our environment and prior experiences. The value of these unconscious rules lies precisely in their difference from rational analysis, they take into account only the most useful bits of information rather than attempting to evaluate all possible factors.
