Teens! Are you interested in the Livingston Library’s Volunteer Program?

Are you a teen who wants volunteer hours to enhance your college application? Or maybe you’re the parent of a teen who needs community service hours to meet the requirements of a club or religious institution. Could you be one of the many teens who loves the library and wants to give back to the community? Our Teen Volunteer Application is open now!

The Livingston Library is committed to providing volunteer opportunities for young people. We believe volunteering teaches new skills, creates a bridge to work, and gives teens the opportunity to engage with diverse members of the community. The library benefits too, as we tap into the interests and talents of our volunteers to enhance and plan programs, and get some extra manpower for big projects.  In 2019, the Livingston Library had almost 200 registered teen volunteers. Volunteers worked an average of 10 hours each, contributing approximately 2000 hours of service.

During the 2020-2021 school year, a group of teen Virtual Volunteers co-hosted Zoom events, created puzzles, wrote book reviews, shared program ideas, and helped prepare crafts like these valentine cards.

For summer 2021, the Library is offering a Teen Virtual Volunteer Program and a few onsite Teen Volunteer opportunities. The positions are open to Livingston residents entering grades 8-12 in September. All CDC guidelines will be strictly observed.
