Dear Livingston Library Community,
I’m delighted to announce that our new season of Senior Happening events started off with a bang. On September 21st, Brad Ziffer presented “Singin’ the Oldies”. Over 120 attendees were delighted by the many different musical stylings presented, from ballads to upbeat pop and more. The audience was so moved by the music, many even got up to dance!
Senior Happening occurs on the third Friday of every month. Each event features a social hour from noon to 12:45 (with the Friends of the Livingston Library serving coffee and dessert and attendees are welcome to bring brown bag lunches) followed by the show! Special accommodations are always made for attendees, with designated tables specifically for wheelchair access. After each Senior Happening, the Library pairs Techie Teen Tutors from Livingston High School with Seniors who are looking for technology help, such as assistance with a handheld device.
The next show in our Fall 2018 Series is “Cantare! The Italian Presence in American Popular Song” presented by Fred Miller on October 19th. Since the Senior Happening Series has grown so popular, registration is now required. Livingston Residents are the first to be able to register, with all of Essex County residents allowed to register at a later date. This can be done in person, by phone, or through the library website.
Senior Happening is made possible in part by funds from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, and administered by the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs.
